Kamidana is a shrine in the house. Basically, we often worship the gods of local shrines, and we usually worship them in our house because we feel close to them. On the other hand, a Buddhist altar is set up in the house for the memorial service of the lost relatives. Japan worships the ancient Japanese god and the Buddhist god at the same time.
神棚はお家の中の神社です。基本的には地域の神社の神様をまつることが多く、日頃から神様を身近に感じるため、家の中にまつっています。これに対して、無くなった身内の人の供養のために仏壇を家の中においています。日本は日本古来の神様と、仏教の神様を同時に信仰しています。
