Shiitake mushrooms are cultivated for food in Japan, China, South Korea, etc., and can also be found in the alpine regions of Southeast Asia and New Zealand. In Japan, shiitake mushrooms are planted and cultivated on short tree trunks. Even in Teshima, shiitake mushrooms are cultivated in the shade of the mountains, where it is difficult to receive direct sunlight.

Shiitake mushrooms are eaten by baking or boiling. It is also used as an ingredient in hot pot cooking. Dried shiitake mushrooms produce good soup stock.

【シイタケ】SHITAKE

シイタケは日本、中国、韓国などで食用に栽培されるほか、東南アジアの高山帯や、ニュージーランドでとれるキノコです。日本では短く切った木の幹にシイタケの菌を植えて栽培します。豊島でも、直射日光の当たりにくい、山の陰になる森の中で、シイタケが栽培されています。

シイタケは焼いたり、煮たりして食べます。鍋料理の具としても使われます。干したしいたけは、良い出汁が出ます。
