Ebisu is one of the Seven Lucky Gods and one of the ancient Japanese gods. It is mainly a god of fishing and is worshiped in the port town. According to Japan’s oldest history book “Kojiki”, the figure holding a fishing rod is positioned as the son of Daikoku-sama in Izumo Province (a different person in another story). He couldn’t speak the language and was quiet and liked fishing.
恵比寿さまは七福神のひとりで、日本の古来の神様のひとりです。主に釣りの神様であり、港町で信仰されます。釣り竿を持ったその姿は、日本最古の歴史書「古事記」によると、出雲国の大黒さまの息子と位置づけられており（一説には違う人）、言葉を話せなく大人しく、釣りを好んでしていたようです。
